If you have a simple index.html page handy you can put that in the 'htdocs' folder of MAMP and then by typing ' in your browser window address bar it will show you the page. Your web browser should open up to a page that says 'Welcome to MAMP' with the URL showing in your address bar. You'll see the cocoa program start up and a green light on the small window that appears will indicate when both the Apache and MySQL Servers are running. Then you simply launch MAMP by double-clicking the application icon. Once it is unpacked on your computer you will get a folder called ' MAMP' with everything inside that you need.
